Komori has announced plans to begin field testing its Impremia NS40 sheetfed nanographic printing system, next year.

The company says the NS40 combines the versatility of digital with the quality and speed of offset printing at a low cost per page adding that it can print on any off-the-shelf substrate, from coated and uncoated paper stocks to synthetic substrates and paperboard—up to 32 point—without the need for pre or post-treatment. Operating at an initial throughput rate of 6,500 straight sheets, or 3,250 perfected sheets per hour, the NS40 will offer multiple configurations, from a four to seven colour straight press to an eight-colour perfector with inline coating.

Based on the progress of the development of the Impremia NS40, Komori plans to carry out the first field test of the beta press in the Japanese market. It will follow this with further tests of the NS40 in other countries.

Scott Robertz, NS40 product manager for Komori America says, “Komori has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to bring this new technology to the market so we are very excited that this product will soon be a reality.”

Komori has developed the press, equipped with Landa Nanography technology, in Japan since showing it at drupa 2016.

The company plans general availability of the product for late December 2019.
