Local label printers performed strongly at the 2017 World Label Awards, taking out a number of categories.

Panprint, based in Auckland, grabbed the Offset Line category prize for its True Honey Co. 300+ MGO and the company shared first place in the Offset Wine/Spirits category with its Pacific Potion Sauvignon Blanc.

Also from Auckland, Rapid Labels won the Flexo Line and Combination Line categories with NZ Sunscreen Pure Shade and Floating Oil Snapper respectively. It received an Honourable Mention (HM) in Flexo Wine/Spirit for its Craggy Range Wild Rock Pinot Gris 2016.

Gravure Packaging, from Petone in Wellington, won the Gravure category with Chobani 170g.

Honourable Mentions went to Hamilton’s Admark Visual Imaging, in the Flexo Colour Process category with Moana; and to Christchurch’s Leading Label in the Letterpress Colour Process with Pumpkin Seed Oil.

Ruth Cobb, general manager of PrintNZ and member of the SALMA executive, says, “New Zealand has participated in the World Label Awards for several years now. I think this is most award that New Zealand companies have won in a single year. They received eight awards from the 22 categories. For a country this small to take out so many awards is simply outstanding.”

The L9 group of international label associations includes FINAT (Europe), TLMI (USA), JFLP (Japan), FPLMA (Australia), SALMA (New Zealand), PEIAC (China) and LMAI (India), Each year these organisations invite companies to submit entries for the World Label Awards, with judging taking place in Brussels the day before Labelexpo Europe.
