The Australasian Catalogue Association held its annual awards last Friday night at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Organisers say the recently added New Zealand category was a huge success for the second year in a row, with Noel Leeming, Optique Line, Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics, Kathmandu and Flooring Xtra receiving gongs on the night.

Kellie Northwood, chief executive officer for the ACA, says, “After launching the New Zealand category last year, this year we are delighted to continue to showcase their impeccable content and the creators.

“The ACA recognises the reputable talent in NZ, and tonight we get to see how brands have pushed the boundaries to drive the consumer purchasing journey.”

Kathmandu took the award for ‘Recreation and Leisure’ over stiff competition from finalists – Mighty Ape and Auckland Art Gallery. Nicola Horan, creative director at Kathmandu, said on the night, “The team at Kathmandu is honoured to receive the award for Recreation and Leisure in New Zealand. The core of our brand is our lifestyle theme, and we are so proud to be acknowledged for all our hard work. We are an in-house team who cares about our output.”

The Retailer Award went to Flooring Xtra for its ‘Flooring Xtra 68 Page May Lookbook’ produced by the Flooring Xtra in-house team. Dominic Sutton, from Pumpt Advertising, said, “We accept the NZ Retailers award with immense gratitude. Well done to all the other finalists, you were all deserving of this award. I’m looking forward for the year ahead, and hopefully we’ll be back next year.”

Optique Line took out the Fashion Award on the night for its impressive eyewear range using embellishments and finishing to capture the audience. The other Awards went to Noel Leeming, in the Home Category for its ‘Noel Leeming 65 TV Promo’ produced by FCB New Zealand, to Lush Fresh Handmade Costmetics in the Cosmetics and Pharmacy Category for ‘The Naked Truth produced by the Lush Fresh

Handmade Cosmetics In-House Team, and to Kathmandu taking out the B2C Award with ‘The Summit – Go Light 2016/17’ produced by Kathmandu In-House Team. Horan added, “We are beyond happy to go home with three awards. A big congratulations to the entire team for their continued efforts in creating memorable catalogues.”
