The Community Newspapers Annual Conference will take place on June 16-17 in Christchurch.

Simon Ellis, president of CNA, says the conference will present a range of speakers including Tom O’Neill who will talk on personal and company branding, plus Renzie Hannam, who will conduct a session on managing stress in the workplace.

Friday night will see the presentation of annual awards, which covers journalism, photography through to best advertising portfolios. Ellis says, “CNA has over 85 mastheads represented, mainly independent publishers and owners who reflect strong local journalism and connection to their communities. Advertising revenue for the group of papers is just over $50m per annum, and although in a competitive market for each advertising dollar, the community papers are showing they have a relevant place in their markets.”

The conference will start with registrations from midday and sessions staring at 1pm Friday. The Saturday sessions will run from approximately 9am, concluding with the AGM at 3.30pm. The Conference will close around 4pm Saturday.
