Warren Leslie became a life member of PrintNZ last week at the Auckland PrintNZ Industry Training Graduation.

Ruth Cobb, general manager PrintNZ says, “This was a very special event being only the fourth life membership awarded in the last 17 years.

Warren Leslie comes from three generations of printers, starting with his grandfather who founded Wickliffe Press, which he handed down to his daughter Joy Leslie, and then on to Warren Leslie.

He started with Wickliffe in 1978 as a sales rep and moved on through roles in the company to become managing director in 1993 when Joy Leslie relinquished that role and became chair of the board.

In 1998, PrintNZ underwent a major restructure, moving from 11 independent associations to a national association with two offices. Leslie joined the PrintNZ board in 1999 as the organisation sought new blood to develop the reinvigorated industry gate keeper. He assisted in bedding in the changes and played a major role in the financial management or the organisation and its capital reserves.

He served on the board of PrintNZ for 15 years, including seven years as president from 2003 to 2010, standing down in 2014. Cobb says, “Warren has devoted a large amount of time to the printing industry and as a collective group we are most appreciative of this and it was an absolute pleasure to bestow the life membership on him.”

Simon Ellis, also a life member of PrintNZ, presented the award.
