Heidelberg continues to promote its ongoing digitisation; the company saying that digitisation makes an impact on the machine design of a variety of its systems.

The company says its Heidelberg Primefire 106, an industrial digital printing system for B1 format, combines the best of both worlds with respect to its design as well as the flexibility of digital printing and the reliability and precision of offset printing. It says the new digital printing unit integrates into the design of the Speedmaster XL106 press platform with ergonomics a major focal point aimed at easy operation of all functions. The machine control station and the print output form a single unit so the printed sheet is automatically presented directly to the operator for assessment on the table, without the inconvenience of sheets having to be pulled.
The Prinect Press Centre XL 2, the latest generation machine control station targets uniform operation of all digital and offset printing systems. Operators can call up additional functions and dialogues and the patented assistance system Intellistart 2 automatically generates all the steps required for intelligent job changes and provides transparency across all active and queued processes. It offers intuitive user software at the multi-touchscreen with user-friendly menus to guide the operator through the various processes.
