Leading flexible packaging specialist Convex Plastics has ordered a new Windmöller & Hölscher Miraflex II line.

Equipped with eight-colour decks and a repeat length of 1130mm and a press speed of 500mpm, the Miraflex C will arrive at Convex in June. It will also have an M&H web and defect inspection package and an inline gravure stand for lacquer application.

Aaron Collett, operations manager at Convex, offers a number of reasons choosing the Miraflex. He says, “The higher automation, the changes to the web path and the improvements for easier operations of the Miraflex II impressed us. Especially important was also the accuracy of the downstream gravure and the proven track record with the Heliostar stations.”

Over four decades, Hamilton-based Convex has evolved from a one-man business with a home-made bag machine making plain plastic bags in a garage, to an international supplier of innovative flexible packaging solutions, with offices in three countries and 140 employees. The company has a stellar record of innovation and ingenuity and celebrates its 40th anniversary thus year. Collett says, “At Convex we believe in pushing the boundaries of packaging to deliver what the customer wants.

W&H shares a 20-year relationship with Convex, which currently operates an Olympia Stellaflex and a Primaflex CM flexo press from W&H. Collett adds, “For me, this will be the fourth W&H installation that I’ve been a part of at Convex and other sites. It’s the complete package that makes W&H special: Consultation based on market knowledge, German engineering of the machines and ongoing support and service.”

Family owned flexible packaging machine manufacturer Windmöller & Hölscher has more than 5000 customers in 130 countries and by more than 5,000 customers.
