Xeikon is setting up its own sales, service, and support operations in Australia and New Zealand, and will now be operating direct-to-market, no longer being sold through agent Absolute Electronics.

Xeikon says the new division will be fully operational in February, and will have its own engineers to service the equipment. The move follows the acquisition of Xeikon by Flint Group last year, and fits in with the Flint strategy ‘to go direct to market wherever possible’.

Xeikon is one of the original digital print pioneers, along with Benny Landa, launching at Ipex in 1993, and this is the first time it has established its own subsidiary here, previously being sold exclusively through agents.

Trevor Crowley, sales general manager Australia and New Zealand, Xeikon, says, “It allows Xeikon to have a closer relationship with existing customers, attract new customers, and create sales opportunities.” Crowley says the opportunities opened by Flint Group’s significant global network allow Xeikon to go direct-to-market.

For Crowley, the move makes sense. “From the sales perspective, it allows Xeikon to have a more intimate relationship with the customer, so that we get a product that suits their needs best” Crowley says.

Xeikon will be operating in a space in Australia in which it says no other direct-to-market manufacturers of digital printers for labels and folding cartons are competing, according to Crowley.
